Computerless and purple

I'm out a computer this week (because This One is out a computer and therefore needs to work on the laptop I've been borrowing from him since mine started making scary black kernel-panic screens every time you type the letter "L"...)

As far as cooking goes, we made the purple potatoes from our CSA last night. I was expecting the color to fade once they were peeled and cooked...but no, they made totally lavender mashed potatoes (with goat cheese, bien sur!) He said the purpleness was a good thing in his book, but I thought they were kind of weird. Served them under juicy shoulder-blade lamb chops, which are definitely a rugged cut. They're less than half the price of loin chops, though, which is great if you're willing to deal with dissecting them. Not really dinner-party material, but delicious with a nice glass of red wine.

mmmm! I might have to make these purple potatoes with goat cheese. Sounds delicious. Maybe with prosciutto wrapped chicken and swiss chard with golden raisins? You have inspired me for dinner.

So, I made the dinner last night, inspired by you. My husband could not get over the fact that the potatoes were PURPLE, so tonight I might make a version where I just use baby yukons. I sauteed shallots and thyme in some salted butter, added 2% milk, and lots of goat cheese. It was delicious. Thanks again!
